Trilogy Movies

The Best Movie Trilogies of All Time!
10. X-Men

Best of the trilogy: The Last Stand
Worst of the trilogy: N/A

Not my most favorite trilogy but was still enjoyable to watch. I do not follow the comics. However, when I was younger, I did watch the TV show which had a very catchy theme song.

9. Rush Hour
Best of the trilogy:
Rush Hour 2
Fun movie to watch and it will keep you laughing throughout the movie. I am a huge fan of Jackie Chan's movies and have watch many of his movies.
Worst of the trilogy: Rush Hour 3-Enjoyable but not as funny as the previous films

8. Spider-man
Best of the trilogy: Spider-man 2
Movie had good build-up, character development and excellent pacing. It had all the things that Spider-man 3 did not have. I recommend people to watch Spider-man 2.1 as it has more action scenes.
Worst of the trilogy: Spider-man 3
My complaints on this movie:
1. Movie was too long
Solution: Cut out the unnecessary scenes (Ex: The Dancing Scene and when Spider-man became Gothic and "emo"
2. No development for any of the villain characters
Solution: Reduce the scenes with MJ and Harry Osborn (there was no need for a romantic/funny scene between the two)
3. Too many villains
Solution: Have only one or two villains (Venom & New Goblin, Sandman & New Goblin)

This right here is the reason why Spidey isn't in the Avengers.

Notable mention: The Amazing Spider-man revitalized a franchise that had become a joke and was in need of a reboot after the awful Spider-man 3. This film far surpassed my expectations and was on par with Spider-man 2.

7. Star Wars  (Original and the prequels)
Best of the original trilogy: Return of the Jedi
Worst of the original trilogy: N/A
Best of the prequels trilogy: Revenge of the Sith
My favorite film in the entire trilogy (both original and the prequels). I mentioned why I thought this was the best in my previous post
Worst of the prequels trilogy: Star Wars: Episode 1- The Phantom Menace

                                                     Remake?  YES!!!!!! or NO!!!!!!!

6. Lord of the Rings
Best of the trilogy: The Return of the King
Blu-ray version of this movie has the best presentation and audio that makes this movie that much better
Worst of the trilogy:The Fellowship of the Ring
I felt that this movie did not have enough to keep my interested in the movie in terms of action and big moments.

5. The Matrix
Best of the trilogy: The Matrix
Worst of the trilogy: N/A
The Matrix was nearly tied with The Matrix: Revolutions as being my favorite. The original beats the third film by a small amount. The original film was immensely entertaining. The movie was very popular at the time that future movies and games would implement slow-motion movement. Conker's Bad Fur Day was a Nintendo game that I played and in one part of the game, you got play the Matrix in a parody version of fury creatures.

4. The Terminator
Best of the trilogy: Judgment Day
Very entertaining movie and a blast to watch.
Arnold was in his prime during this time. I suggest watching the Extended Special Edition which is 154 minutes. Even though it is long, the movie does not disappoint.
Worst of the trilogy: Rise of the Machines
Enjoyable but not my favorite in the series

3. Toy Story

Best of the trilogy: Toy Story 3
It was certainly hard to select which Toy Story movie was the best in the series since all three films are excellent. I watched the first film when I was a little boy, and the movie was fun to watch. The sequel, Toy Story 2 was also very good but I enjoyed the Toy Story slightly more than the sequel. I watched these two films in 2001, and as each year went by, I always wondered if Pixar would ever make another sequel. As soon as I saw the teaser trailer for the movie, I became so excited. I went to see my first ever 3D film in the summer of 2010. Toy Story 3D was such a fun experience and the 3D made the viewing experience so much better. Eventually, I had mixed feelings regarding 3D which was mentioned in my 3D post.
Toy Story 1 and 3 come very close as being the best in the series. If I had to pick, I would choose Toy Story 3 because the movie felt as if I grew up with Andy. It has been 10 years since the second film and he was off to college while I also started college. The beginning of the movie gave me past memories as a kid watching the first film. The ending of the film gave a satisfying closure to the series and I loved the ending. I was touched by the ending, but I did not have tears running down as many people may claim.
There are rumors of having a sequel to the movie and I would love another sequel and possibly, a new trilogy.
Worst of the trilogy: N/A

2. Back to the Future
Best of the trilogy: Back to the Future 1
Worst of the trilogy: N/A
This was such a iconic trilogy. Each film did not disappoint and was one of the most popular movie franchise in history. I always wanted a sequel but it may never come. A video-game of the Back to the Future was the sequel but in video-game format.

Back to the Future is like a fine wine, it just gets better with age

1. Batman (Christopher Nolan)
Best of the trilogy: The Dark Knight
I do not remember much of Batman Begins and I have not seen the Dark Knight Rises. However, I do know that my opinion on which film was the best in the trilogy would not change. The Dark Knight was absolutely a blast to watch. From start to finish, I was not once bored and some scenes kept me off the edge of my seat. I did not watch this in theaters which I highly regret. I watched this film on Blu-ray and every scene with the Joker was brilliant. The opening scene where the Joker robs the bank and reveals himself was truly iconic. The pencil trick and interrogation scene showed the tremendous acting from Heath Ledger.

Worst of the trilogy: N/A

The Joker: "Oh, you. You just couldn't let me go, could you? This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You truly are incorruptible, aren't you? You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness. And I won't kill you because you're just too much fun. I think you and I are destined to do this forever"
Words could not describe how iconic this scene was. This scene was also meaningful as the two rivals (Batman and Joker) may never be able to collide due to the death of Heath Ledger.

Movies that Need to be Remade (Not Re-Released)

The movies that I believe need to be Remade
Star Wars Episode 4-6

Star Wars (Original Trilogy)

Sure, the classics are awesome and should never be remade. However, anyone who is huge fans of these classic films should realize that the films will benefit so much in terms of the quality of these films. Audio and visual enhancements will help provide better entertainment and capture the actual story. I could not get into these films as much as Episode 1-3. Star Wars Episode III was my favorite film of the whole series. I enjoyed the cinematic details that made the battle scenes much more enjoyable than the Original Trilogy.

Disney has plans on making Episode 7-9. The story of the new trilogy is not known but many believe that it will be a new universe (perhaps 100 years in the future). Another rumor is that Darth Vader will be coming back. Who exactly will be playing Darth Vader? Another member in the Skywalker family?

I believe that Disney should remake the Original Trilogy. I would love to watch these movies made with modern technology that center on the rise and fall of Darth Vader. Disney can even bring back old cast members for the remake of these films, such as Ewan Mcgregor (Oi-WEan Kenobi), Hayden Christensen (Darth Vader) or the cast members from the Original Trilogy.

Mortal Kombat
Remake of the movie
Kevin Tancharoen created a trailer for the movie titled, Mortal Kombat: Rebirth. The trailer received a ton of praise and he soon released the Mortal Kombat Legacy which is short episodes on the background information of certain Mortal Kombat characters. I watched all the mini-episodes on YouTube, and the best episode was 9. The episode featured great action sequences and showed what the movie would look like on the big screen. Another season has been announced that focuses on the Tournament rather than the background story of each fighter. A full-length movie should be released rather than these mini-series. There are rumors that the movie will be released in 2013 but it has not been officially confirmed. I enjoyed the Mortal Kombat movie that was released in 1995 but absolutely hated the sequel, Mortal Kombat  Annihilation. How could the sequel which had a higher budget and audience appeal become more worse than the first movie. The story, design, script, and cast were poor. Watch the review to understand why you should never watch this movie, unless you want to see how terrible the film is.
The name of the film says it, the movie annihilated the series.
Mortal Kombat Annihilation Review (Part 1)
Mortal Kombat Annihilation Review (part 2)
I have high expectations for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie that will be released hopefully in 2013. As long as Kevin Tancharoen sticks to the well-choreographed action scenes shown in episode 9, the movie will satisfy every fan of Mortal Kombat. If the game remake (Mortal Kombat 9) can bring the MK series back to life in terms of video games, then the new movie should be able to be as successful as its video-game counterpart.

Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Bros. Poster

Super Mario Bros was a horrible adaptation of videogaming's greatest hero. This movie was so bad that I watched it to only laugh at how Hollywood failed in its attempt to capitalize on the success of the video-game, Super Mario Brothers. Would a New Super Mario Bros movie qualify as a remake? This is because the movie has nothing to do with the classic Nintendo game besides using the character names. Mario and Luigi do not have last names but Hollywood decided to label them as Mario Mario and Luigi Mario because they are the "Mario Brothers." That was so ridiculous and laughable at the same time since it should be no surprised that they butchered their names as they already butchered the entire movie. I do not have high hopes for the remake to be amazing. However, making the movie to somewhat resemble the game will make it at least watchable. If this does ever get remade, people should not have high expectations for it because it will only make people more disappointed.
For the movie to be successful, it at least needs the man himself, Charles Martinet. He voices Mario, Luigi, Wariao, Waluigi, Toadsworth, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. Because of this, an animated movie would be better so that Charles can voice these characters.

Other movies based on Video-Games

Dead or Alive
DOA: Dead or Alive PosterI enjoyed this film and it was a decent film but should be remade. I would love to see another Dead or Alive movie.

Final Fantasy

I enjoyed Final Fantasy Advent Children and would recommend people to watch this film because of the great visuals and audio. This movie shows that a movie based on a video-game can be successful. I would love to see either a sequel  or a remake of the Final Fantasy (2001) movie that uses the same animation as Advent Children.

Product Image
Tekken
Movie was decent but it should be remade. The movie does not capture the game's image. There should be more characters, better development of these characters, and fight scenes that resemble the game. The movie should also follow the story of the game. Special effects should be used to show each character's special moves. Lastly, the actors should actually resemble their videogame counterpart, with the right costume, hair and voice.
This is a movie game done right.

Resident Evil
Resident Evil Movie Poster
First movie (the best in the series)
(The Live Action Films only; not the animated films)
I enjoyed the Resident Evil animated films (Degenseration & Damnation). As for the Resident Evil live-action films, I enjoyed the first film and though the second and third film were decent. However, the fourth was terrible and I have not seen the fifth one. The fourth film, Resident Evil Afterlife 3D was mentioned in my previous post and it was terrible. The movie was short (thank goodness) and the movie failed in its attempt to follow the video-game story. In order to fix this movie, the producer must get rid of Milla Jovovich and all the characters who are not even in the video-games. They should make this movie become more of a horror film rather than a action movie. The first movie in the series had a great balance between the two.

Street Fighter (Including The Legend of Chun-Li)

Both movies were terrible and the Legend of Chun-Li was the second chance that Hollywood had in making a Street Fighter movie and they failed as bad as the first movie. I do not understand how the second movie in the series could be just as bad as the previous movie since the second film was released 14 years after the first film. The audio and visuals were better in The Lgend of Chun-Li but everything else was poorly done. These types of movies insult movie goers, gamers and people, in general.

Similarity to Tekken, the story, dialogue and fight scenes should be better than what we got in these films. Special effects should be used to show each character's special moves. Lastly, the actors should actually resemble their videogame counterpart, with the right costume, hair and voice.
The video below shows what the movie would look like when done right (everyone gave these guys high praise). With a low budget, they managed to recreate a fight scene from the game into live action.

The Phenomenon that is known as the Paranormal Activity

The Actual Responses
"Possibly the worst scary movie ever made"
"Good luck staying awake after this one"
"Will Leave You Physically Impaired"
"Hands Down The Most Terrible Movie Of The Year"

"What happens when you sleep?"-You will be able to
skip this awful movie
File:Saw film logo.png

Why has Paranormal Activity series replaced the more successful Saw series?

The most successful horror franchise (Saw) had 7 installments which all had financial success at the box office. Many people believe that the first movie in the series was the best. I agree with those individuals because as each installment was released, the quality of the film declined. The first Saw movie had a unique twist at the end that surprised me and I enjoyed the movie. The remaining 6 films were watchable but not as great as the first movie in the series. Each sequel was released the year after the previous which could be the reason for the lack of quality in these films. Yearly movie releases also show that these producers are nothing more but obsessed money grabbers. This would soon be more prominent in the Paranormal Activity series.

I was first introduced to Paranormal Activity when my buddies and I came together for movie night. We would get together every Friday and watch horror films (The Horrorfest series-8 Films To Die For). One of these Friday nights, my friend brought over Paranormal Activity on Blu-ray. This was our first Horror film we watched on Blu-ray. We all were excited as I inserted the disc inside my Blu-ray player. The realistic-approach to the movie (Documentary style) was something different. As the movie went on, I already felt that the movie was a letdown. I was not scared by any of the "Surprise Scares." A door opening by itself is not scary or something dealing with supernatural powers from unknown beings. I angrily continued watching as my friends were enjoying the movie. I expressed my hatred towards the movie at the end of it. I was relieved when the movie ended and I was glad that I did not waste my money on this movie. I went on IMDb.com and was shocked that it received many positive feedback. Usually, when a movie receives over a 5.0 rating, the movie is at least decent and watchable.
Paid to act scared (I'll do it if the "Price is right")
How could a move made with a $15,000 budget exceed the box-office performance of Saw VI?
I did not watch Paranormal Activity 2, 3, 4, and will not watch Paranormal Activity 5. I do not know how these films could continue being successful. I also do not understand why people would watch these films since they all are exactly the same. If you watched the first film, you already know the sequels- Weird phenomenon will happen in the house (something related to the children, pets, and door) and the end of the film will reveal the demon in the family). If people are so desperate to watch these films, please just watch them when they come out on DVD so that you can spend the $1 to rent them from Redbox.

I am a huge horror fan and these films disgrace the genre.
Bring back the Saw series so that the Paranormal Activity series can end.

Films that will knock you out of your seat
I recommend watching any of the Horrorfest movies as they provide better entertainment and will scare you unlike the Paranormal Activity series.
Let me know what you all think.

The Death of Movies From Using 3D

How 3D is killing Hollywood

"3-D(three-dimensional) film is a motion picture that enhances the illusion of depth perception"
Using 3-D in movies is used to enhance the viewing experience for people. I am not against movies that uses the 3-D aspect. However, not every movie needs to be in 3-D. This is the new trend in the movie industry and Hollywood is exploiting it. Is it really necessary to have every new film as well as re-releases of films to be in 3-D? Take for example, the Star Wars trilogy. Why would Lucas do this? To follow what everyone is doing and making money off of gullible people. Why would people and especially the dedicated fans pay $13.50 to see these movies again?
The thing that gets me the most and I know that I am not alone is that most of the time, theaters have both options at different showtimes. What if you could not make it in time to view the regular version of the film? Since you are already there at the theater, you might as well go purchase a ticket to the 3-D version of the film.
I viewed two movies in 3-D and that included Toy Story 3 and the Avengers. I saw the Avengers in 3-D because of what I mentioned above. I viewed Toy Story 3 in 3-D because it was the first movie that I saw in 3-D. I enjoyed the 3-D and it was mostly due to Pixar implementing 3-D the correct way. The Avengers in 3-D was a totally different story. Half way through the movie, I took my glasses off because certain scenes did not look good in 3-D. The other reason I took my glasses off was because the 3-D was starting to hurt my eyes. The price, the poorly use of 3-D and the further damage to the human eyes are reasons why 3-D is killing the movie industry and those who enjoy attending the movie theater.
3-D can work well for some movies but most of the time, the producers of the film just use this new trend to grab more money from your wallet.

Joe said it best, "3D movies= Muddy Vision Syndrome!"

Who Else Will Fall Victom to Disney's Empire

Will Disney purchase Hasbro?

Those who have fallen victom to Disney
  • Walt Disney Pictures
  • Disneynature
  • Touchstone Pictures
  • Marvel Studios
  • Lucasfilm

  • According to a story published by MTV Geek,
"These are still just discussions at this point, but serious enough that something could be announced at any time and create ripples throughout the entertainment industry."

This is currently a rumor but MTV has said there are reputable sources reporting on this discussion
Will the acquisition of Hasbro benefit Disney and the customers? Will the fans accept that Disney has the rights to Transformers, G.I. Joe, Dungeons and Dragons, Beyblade, Battleship, Nerf, and Magic: The Gathering as well as many other game titles and IP?

With the acquisition of Marvel and Star Wars, Disney has the entire entertainment of the male group. This is so different from years ago when Disney was always criticized for only appealing to the entire family and especially young children. The transition is hard to grasp for many people as huge mix feelings has emerged with Disney's purchase of LucasFlim.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Disney acquiring Hasbro?

Will Disney be able to have success with these flims as they had did with Marvel films (aka. The Avengers)?
