Why has Paranormal Activity series replaced the more successful Saw series?

The most successful horror franchise (Saw) had 7 installments which all had financial success at the box office. Many people believe that the first movie in the series was the best. I agree with those individuals because as each installment was released, the quality of the film declined. The first Saw movie had a unique twist at the end that surprised me and I enjoyed the movie. The remaining 6 films were watchable but not as great as the first movie in the series. Each sequel was released the year after the previous which could be the reason for the lack of quality in these films. Yearly movie releases also show that these producers are nothing more but obsessed money grabbers. This would soon be more prominent in the Paranormal Activity series.

I was first introduced to Paranormal Activity when my buddies and I came together for movie night. We would get together every Friday and watch horror films (The Horrorfest series-8 Films To Die For). One of these Friday nights, my friend brought over Paranormal Activity on Blu-ray. This was our first Horror film we watched on Blu-ray. We all were excited as I inserted the disc inside my Blu-ray player. The realistic-approach to the movie (Documentary style) was something different. As the movie went on, I already felt that the movie was a letdown. I was not scared by any of the "Surprise Scares." A door opening by itself is not scary or something dealing with supernatural powers from unknown beings. I angrily continued watching as my friends were enjoying the movie. I expressed my hatred towards the movie at the end of it. I was relieved when the movie ended and I was glad that I did not waste my money on this movie. I went on IMDb.com and was shocked that it received many positive feedback. Usually, when a movie receives over a 5.0 rating, the movie is at least decent and watchable.

Paid to act scared (I'll do it if the "Price is right")

How could a move made with a $15,000 budget exceed the box-office performance of Saw VI?
I did not watch Paranormal Activity 2, 3, 4, and will not watch Paranormal Activity 5. I do not know how these films could continue being successful. I also do not understand why people would watch these films since they all are exactly the same. If you watched the first film, you already know the sequels- Weird phenomenon will happen in the house (something related to the children, pets, and door) and the end of the film will reveal the demon in the family). If people are so desperate to watch these films, please just watch them when they come out on DVD so that you can spend the $1 to rent them from Redbox.

I am a huge horror fan and these films disgrace the genre.
Bring back the Saw series so that the Paranormal Activity series can end.

Films that will knock you out of your seat

I recommend watching any of the Horrorfest movies as they provide better entertainment and will scare you unlike the Paranormal Activity series.
