Star Wars Episode 4-6
Star Wars (Original Trilogy)
Sure, the classics are awesome and should never be remade. However, anyone who is huge fans of these classic films should realize that the films will benefit so much in terms of the quality of these films. Audio and visual enhancements will help provide better entertainment and capture the actual story. I could not get into these films as much as Episode 1-3. Star Wars Episode III was my favorite film of the whole series. I enjoyed the cinematic details that made the battle scenes much more enjoyable than the Original Trilogy.
Disney has plans on making Episode 7-9. The story of the new trilogy is not known but many believe that it will be a new universe (perhaps 100 years in the future). Another rumor is that Darth Vader will be coming back. Who exactly will be playing Darth Vader? Another member in the Skywalker family?
I believe that Disney should remake the Original Trilogy. I would love to watch these movies made with modern technology that center on the rise and fall of Darth Vader. Disney can even bring back old cast members for the remake of these films, such as Ewan Mcgregor (Oi-WEan Kenobi), Hayden Christensen (Darth Vader) or the cast members from the Original Trilogy.
Mortal Kombat
Remake of the movie
The name of the film says it, the movie annihilated the series.
Mortal Kombat Annihilation Review (Part 1)
Mortal Kombat Annihilation Review (part 2)
I have high expectations for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie that will be released hopefully in 2013. As long as Kevin Tancharoen sticks to the well-choreographed action scenes shown in episode 9, the movie will satisfy every fan of Mortal Kombat. If the game remake (Mortal Kombat 9) can bring the MK series back to life in terms of video games, then the new movie should be able to be as successful as its video-game counterpart.
Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Bros was a horrible adaptation of videogaming's
greatest hero. This movie was so bad that I watched it to only laugh at how
Hollywood failed in its attempt to capitalize on the success of the
video-game, Super Mario Brothers. Would a New Super Mario Bros movie qualify as
a remake? This is because the movie has nothing to do with the classic Nintendo
game besides using the character names. Mario and Luigi do not have last names
but Hollywood decided to label them as Mario Mario and Luigi Mario because they
are the "Mario Brothers." That was so ridiculous and laughable at the
same time since it should be no surprised that they butchered their
names as they already butchered the entire movie. I do not have high hopes for
the remake to be amazing. However, making the movie to somewhat resemble the
game will make it at least watchable. If this does ever get remade, people
should not have high expectations for it because it will only make people more
disappointed.
For the movie to be successful, it at least
needs the man himself, Charles Martinet. He voices Mario, Luigi, Wariao,
Waluigi, Toadsworth, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. Because of this, an animated
movie would be better so that Charles can voice these characters.
Other movies based on Video-Games
Dead or Alive
Final Fantasy
Tekken
Movie was decent but it should be remade. The movie does not capture the game's image. There should be more characters, better development of these characters, and fight scenes that resemble the game. The movie should also follow the story of the game. Special effects should be used to show each character's special moves. Lastly, the actors should actually resemble their videogame counterpart, with the right costume, hair and voice.
This is a movie game done right.
First movie (the best in the series)
(The Live Action Films only; not the animated films)
I enjoyed the Resident Evil animated films (Degenseration & Damnation). As for the Resident Evil live-action films, I enjoyed the first film and though the second and third film were decent. However, the fourth was terrible and I have not seen the fifth one. The fourth film, Resident Evil Afterlife 3D was mentioned in my previous post and it was terrible. The movie was short (thank goodness) and the movie failed in its attempt to follow the video-game story. In order to fix this movie, the producer must get rid of Milla Jovovich and all the characters who are not even in the video-games. They should make this movie become more of a horror film rather than a action movie. The first movie in the series had a great balance between the two.
Street Fighter (Including The Legend of Chun-Li)

Both movies were terrible and the Legend of Chun-Li was the second chance that Hollywood had in making a Street Fighter movie and they failed as bad as the first movie. I do not understand how the second movie in the series could be just as bad as the previous movie since the second film was released 14 years after the first film. The audio and visuals were better in The Lgend of Chun-Li but everything else was poorly done. These types of movies insult movie goers, gamers and people, in general.
Similarity to Tekken, the story, dialogue and fight scenes should be better than what we got in these films. Special effects should be used to show each character's special moves. Lastly, the actors should actually resemble their videogame counterpart, with the right costume, hair and voice.
The video below shows what the movie would look like when done right (everyone gave these guys high praise). With a low budget, they managed to recreate a fight scene from the game into live action.
You should add to the list, Dragonball: Evolution.
ReplyDeleteThat movie was absolutely terrible and an slap in the face to the fans. The only reason why I watched this was to laugh at how bad the movie was!
Good list but I have to disagree with the Star Wars remake. The original trilogy was a masterpiece and remaking these films would destroy the legacy of Star Wars.
